Lest we forget WW1

Remembering the outbreak of WW1

On 4th August St John the Baptist Church, Quinton was open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m for quiet reflection to commemorate the anniversary of the commencement of the Great War, 1914 – 1919.   During the day appropriate prayers were offered and there were readings of poetry from the period.
Visitors lit personal candles and signed a Book of Remembrance.
There were displays of the histories of the men from Quinton and Preston Deanery, especially of those who did not return, and the men from Hackleton, Horton and Piddington were also remembered: RIP.
Family and personal memorabilia from many families in Quinton and Piddington was on display including a history of Quinton School at the time and the work of Army Chaplains through the War.
We would like to thank everyone who donated memorabilia and came to join us in remembrance – “LEST WE FORGET”
