LBYF service, pets and wandering about

Image
It was a busy Sunday! In the morning, the Living Brook Youth Fellowship led the church service at Hardingstone, presenting a story about Indiana Jones in search of the holy trinity.  Indy met all three! The youth group also did the Bible readings and led us in singing. At 3 pm it was time to celebrate and bless our pets in Horton.  Revd Beverley brought along Scruffy the, er, dog, who was a great hit. There was some helpless laughter as Scruffy grooved along to the singing. All enjoyed the sunshine and shade, some 21 people and 8 dogs, or some combination of people and dogs anyway... And a pony!   Then LBYF came together again for a walk in Salcey Forest, and lovely it was too.  We got slightly waylaid on an unplanned expedition through a thicket. Some emerged with walking sticks, having rapidly aged.

After the service Naomi took a retiring collection and raised a whopping £109.95 plus a sheet full of sponsors. She will be returning to church in 2 weeks time to report on the outcome of the event and how much was raised in total. Thank you Naomi. If you too would like to sponsor the children of Year 4 in their sponsored silence for Water Aid then please contact Freddy (Andrew) Knowles on  870103 or email  Freddy  In addition to this during Lent all Piddington Church cash collections will be going towards buying some bibles for Hackleton School. Festival Fever

Image
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.  Serve the Lord with gladness: Come before his presence with singing. (Psalm 100: 1-2) Our season of Patronal Festivals reached its climax on Sunday with our celebration for Mary Magdalene. The Hackleton School Steel band and choir certainly added a carnival feel to the occasion.  The joyful service was led by Reverend Beverly Hollins and the Right Reverend Donald Allister, Bishop of Peterborough, who re-dedicated the children's chapel to Mary Magdalene. This dedication marks the creation of the new parish of Piddington with Horton, a name that recognises our incorporation of Horton Church, which sadly closed at the end of last year.  The new chapel has at its heart the altar that was previously in use at Horton and also the beautiful hassocks designed by Margaret Wright and worked on by the ladies of the villages of Horton, Hackleton, Piddington and Hardingstone. Bishop Donald continued the service with the bl...
