Harvest Supper - Quinton with Preston Deanery

Image
Mike Crouch with Livingstone Chenge from Butonge School   On Sunday the 28th September 2014 St John the Baptist Quinton held its Harvest Service and Supper in the Church. The Church was resplendent with harvest decoration, produce and flowers and the day was made more special with the arrival of our guest of honour (photo: greeted at the door by Mike Crouch, Churchwarden) Livingstone Chenge. Livingstone is the Headteacher of Butonge Primary School, the school we support, and is in the UK with the group from our linked diocese of Bungoma. During the service Livingstone gave us an insight into life in Bungoma and especially of the children at the school.  He explained the fantastic difference it had made when we financially assisted him to bring electricity into the school and how that would now assist our next project of improving the water and sanitation. Ride and stride

Image
Thank you to everyone who took part in the ride and stride on the 13th of September. Some of us walked around Willen Lake, while others rode 10 miles visiting eight Milton Keynes churches, navigating the red ways and byways. It was great fun! We'll give you a fuller report after all the sponsorship money has been collected.

Stewardship campaign

Image
Dear Members of the Parish St John the Baptist Piddington, Stewardship Campaign Piddington Church would like to express their grateful thanks to all those who responded to our recent appeal. The community’s heartfelt concern is a real encouragement to us. You will be pleased to know that the Stewardship Campaign was very successful. Apart from the overwhelming number of offers of help it has been financially successful too. When Gift Aid is added to the pledges received we will be able to count on an additional £91.37   per week, which equates to about £4751.28 in a full year.   This figure will do much more than simply balance our budget for the coming year.     This wonderful response gives us the freedom to invest in new and existing areas of ministry in the church.   You can rest assured that your giving is making a real difference in this church and in the wider community. I am delighted by the response and I know that ...

Iraq crisis

The Iraqi people need our prayers. Iraqi Christians need our prayers. The climate of uncertainty and diminished confidence in the government armed forces to provide security and stability are causing many, particularly Christians, to seriously consider the hope of emigration. Wishing for a month of Sundays!

Image
Youth Fellowship singers Usually you hear the phrase 'never in a month of Sundays', however, following the service led by our Youth Fellowship on the fifth Sunday in August, it left me wishing for a month of Sundays - so we could see them lead a service far more often. Their confidence in leading us through the service in singing, prayer and drama was a joy to behold and put many of us adults to shame!  Their dramatic portrayal of Matthew 16 v 25 - 27 easily conveyed the Gospel message; 'For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?   For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.'
