Living Brook Benefice (Piddington, Hardingstone and Quinton)

We have entered the start of our Patronal services this year. Sunday 24th June sees St John the Baptist being celebrated at both Quinton in the morning with a Patronal Holy Communion at 9.30 am and Piddington Church in the evening at 6pm with a Songs of Praise. Quinton follow their celebration with a mini fete in the afternoon to raise funds for the church.  We have a patronal evensong in the church of St Peter and St Paul in Preston Deanery on the 1st of July at 4 pm We celebrate St. Mary Magdalene on the 22nd of July with a Patronal Songs of Praise in Piddington Church at 6 pm and then we have a long wait until November when we will be celebrating St Edmund in Hardingstone.

You may have noticed a new sign on the gate at the church of St John the Baptist, Piddington, which tells us that at this location there is a Commonwealth War Grave . If you have any more information, please email us . The person buried here is Reginald Ernest George Hall, who is recorded at the CWG site as: Service Number T/179137 Died 29/02/1944 Aged 28 Royal Army Service Corps Son of Edward Ernest Hall, and Dora Emma Hall of Northampton; husband of Lucy E. Hall. Reginald was the son of the Edward Hall who is commemorated on the Hackleton War Memorial (at the  bottom of Piddington Lane).  Our local researchers have found census data to show that Edward Hall lived at 9 Hackleton in 1911, with the Chapmans, and was in Okeford in 1901, where he is also remembered on a war memorial. Join Canon Beverley as she makes her way through our Benefice in our Novena this year

We welcome back Beverley from her sabbatical and hope  she has achieved all her goals and most importantly feels  spiritually refreshed and congratulate her on  joining the  College of Canons as an Honorary Canon of the Cathedral  of Peterborough. She will be known now as Rev Canon  Beverley Hollins or just Canon Hollins.

We wish everyone in our Benefice a wonderful Easter and rejoice that Jesus died on that cross so that we too could enjoy an eternal life with Him.  Hallelujah Jesus is risen!
